Other Religions

Under construction. Meantime see Walter M. Abbott, S.J., ed., The Documents of Vatican Two (Guild/America/Association, 1966), the decree on Non-Christians, pp. 656-671; Nicky Gumbel, "Other Religions," in his Searching Issues (Eastbourne, UK: 1994), pp. 28-40.

The United Church of Canada's 1997 Camrose General Council affirmed Mending the World as faithful to the ICIF mandate, as linking the church with all people of good will, and as a lens through which the work of the Church can be reviewed and assessed. TD&O has published two articles on this document: Graham Scott, "Mending the World needs mending," TD&O XII/1, January (March) 1997, pp. 23-24; David L. Fisher, "A Response to 'Mending the World'," TD&O XIII/1, March 1997, pp. 9-14.

Mending the World's predecessor was Towards a Renewed Understanding of Ecumenism, whose direction was affirmed by the 1994 General Council but referred back to the ICIF committee for re-writing. TD&O published a number of articles on this document: Graham Scott, "Editorial: Butter and Oil," TD&O IX/1, Jan. 1994, pp. 28-30; Ralph Neil, "Why torture Scripture? A response...," TD&O IX/2, July 1994, pp.8-9; Tony Rocchi, "On the road to nowhere," TD&O IX/2, July 1994, pp. 5-8; Don Faris, "A Kingdom without a King," TD&O X/1, Jan. 1995, pp. 1-3; Clark H. Pinnock, "Inclusive or Pluralist?" TD&O X/1, pp. 3-4; Robert Rumball, "Wolves as Shepherds," TD&O X/1, p. 4; Evangelism Committee of Hamilton Conference, "A Critique...," TD&O X/1, pp.4-6; Hyatt Ave UC SEssion, "Responses...," TD&O X/1, p.6.
